Baltimore, Maryland Region
Baltimore, Maryland Region The Baltimore Metropolitan Council retained ACP to design and facilitate Vision 2030: Shaping the Region's Future Together, an 18-month effort to garner a realistic, actionable vision for the future of the Baltimore region capable of affecting regional and local decision making regarding future transportation, economic, environmental, social and land use policies.
Highlights:
- The regional vision was a cooperative effort between the City of Annapolis, Baltimore City, and the five counties that make up the Baltimore Metropolitan Area: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard.
- Focus groups with residents from all parts of the region, interviews with and committee involvement of a broad base of stakeholders and special interest groups, seventeen public meetings held in communities throughout the region, and a telephone survey with a random sample of 1,200 regional residents served as the foundation of the vision.
- The implications of how policy decisions can affect the way the region grows and impact its quality of life were illustrated in visual form, modeled through a variety of environmental, social and economic indicators and presented for review at the public meetings.
- Vision 2030 comprises 15 goals and 100 strategies. The Greater Baltimore Committee, the region's business organization, is coordinating the implementation effort with the Vision 2030 Oversight Committee.
