Dayton, Ohio Region

The Western Montgomery County Transportation and Land Use Study—Making Connections—was designed to create a consensus framework to ensure compatibility and consistency between transportation infrastructure improvements, utility services and desired land use patterns in western Montgomery County, Ohio. Extensive data collection, technical analysis and public outreach efforts were conducted culminating in identification of shared principles for development and redevelopment; formation of a Conceptual Development Plan; identification of a set of prioritized transportation projects for further investigation/study and inclusion in Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC)'s Long Range Transportation Plan; and development of an implementation framework for local action that has regional benefit and regional action that has local benefit.

Highlights:

  • Making Connections was led by a 34-member Steering Committee of public leaders from Western Montgomery County. The group consists of representatives from 21 jurisdictions and several regional stakeholder groups.
  • The study area encompassed 245-square-miles.
