ACP helped Nine Counties. One Vision. Inc., a non-for profit organization, to craft a multi-faceted strategic vision for the future that embodies the ideas and aspirations of the broad range of citizens resides in the nine county region around Knoxville, Tennessee. The vision's goals are being aggressively implemented through 27 Task Forces formed through the process.
Highlights:
- Over 6000 people participated, generating nearly 9000 ideas, 48 goals and hundreds of strategies
- ACP facilitated a diverse Steering Committee of over 80 regional residents, and a 21 member Board of Directors.
- Key progress includes: work on downtown is being propelled by a set of development principles created by the Downtown Task Force and derived from nearly 4000 ideas gathered by the vision and focused on physical aspects of the community; the Program and Events Task Force is in the process of organizing a first ever regional community festival designed to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the area; the Education Task Force formed and secured initial funding for a regional Education Foundation; the Economic Development Task Force is securing start up funding for small businesses and created a region wide high-tech business database and support structure.
